Foundation Drainage

Good drainage helps move water away from the building instead of allowing it to accumulate near foundation walls. Drainage is not a cure-all for structural problems, but it can be an important part of managing water around a home.

Areas to review

Look at roof runoff, downspout discharge, surface grading, low spots and any existing drainage systems. Water collecting beside the structure is worth addressing.

Structural problems still need structural evaluation

If walls are bowing, cracks are changing or the foundation is settling, drainage work alone should not be assumed to solve the structural condition.
