Basement Water and Foundation Cracks

Water entering through or near a crack can make the crack more noticeable, but moisture and structural movement are separate questions. A repair plan should determine whether the main issue is leakage, movement or both.

Document both conditions

Note where water appears, when it occurs, whether the crack changes, and whether the wall shows displacement or bowing. This helps separate a moisture path from a structural concern.
